Cupping Massage
What is Cupping Massage?
Cupping massage is a myofacial release therapy that has many different benefits to you as a client. Cups are applied to the skin using a vacuum force, allowing the facial layers and deep tissue layers to lift and separate, allowing an increase in blood flow as well as the movement of interstitial fluid between your tissue layers. This helps eliminate facial restriction and stagnation that has formed within your body over the years.
What can Cupping Therapy treat?
Cupping therapy is great for a multitude of different things! Your facial layers are throughout your entire body and surround everything from your skin layers, muscles and right down to surrounding your organs. When these layers get stuck, it can cause restrictive issues like a decrease in range of motion or bowel dysfunction for example. Being able to separate these layers will allow proper flow back to these areas, allowing them to function again.

What are some of the side effects of Cupping Therapy?
With Cupping Therapy, you are almost guaranteed to have circular marks left on your skin. These marks are NOT bruises, but blood that has been lifted to the surface. These marks can last anywhere between 2-14 days so it is advised to be aware of any life events you may have where these makes will be an issue, like going to the beach or a wedding for example.
Depending on what is going on with your system, these marks will vary in colour. A faint or gray mark for example is indicative of stagnation and a lack of energy flow, a nice pinkish is indicative of healthy tissue and a darker red is indicative of moderate to sever stagnation.
Other reactions can also occur during cupping, although they are not as common, such as toxin release or blisters. When this occurs, there is something much more intense happening within the system.
